John Riley Lee was born about 1800 in Williamsburg Co., Georgetown District, SC, and died 1876 in Pearl River Co., MS. Direct Lee living descendants say he was the son of Samuel Lee and Sarah Shay Burns, but I have no other data to substantiate this. He married Arsenith Seale June 20, 1827 in Marion Co., MS, daughter of Littleton Seale and Ruhannah (a.k.a. Ruhuamah) Williams. She was born 1809 in GA, and died July 11, 1884 in Columbia, Marion Co., MS.

John and Arsenith Lee's family is enumerated in the 1840 census of Marion County. John is listed as age 40-50 (supporting an 1800 birth year), and Arsenith is listed as age 20-30 (supporting an 1809 birth year). Sons are listed as one under age 5, three age 5-10, and one age 10-15; daughters are listed as one under age 5 and one age 5-10.
Page 185A lists John, Asenith (sic) and nine of their children. Page 185B lists two more children. John is listed in this census as 50 years of age, and Asenith is listed as 30. Clearly, the latter is an error.
John Lee's birth is listed here as 1806, but 1800 appears to be more likely based upon census data. This cemetery marking was laid in the late 20th century by one of their descendants.
