Nichols Cemetery

Rapides Parish, Louisiana

The Nichols Cemetery is located west of Alexandria in Rapides Parish, Louisiana. To find this cemetery from Alexandria, drive about 13 miles west on Highway 28. After you cross the intersection with Highway 121, continue about three more miles on Highway 28. Turn left on Nichols Cemetery Road. You will go about one and one-half miles before you get to the gated automobile entrance (first photo above). Open the gate, drive through, and close the gate behind you. You may then drive a short distance to the shelter area and walking entrance of the cemetery (second photo above).

On June 29, 2004 Howard Baulch visited this cemetery and took photos of a few grave markers. Howard's first cousin three times removed, Morgan Franklin Terrell, his wife, Lucinda Nichols, and some of their family are buried here. The transcriptions and grave markers are presented below. Comments in parentheses are not on the grave markers and are additional information offered by the author.
